Bangladesh vs Pakistan, 3rd T20I Probable XI

Pakistan aren't known for quickly learning from their mistakes, but this team righted one wrong from six years ago over the weekend. Pakistan visited Bangladesh in 2015, just days after the World Cup ended, for a three-match ODI series and a single T20I.

They were undercooked, perhaps even unmotivated, and were savaged by the home team, who eventually sent Saeed Ajmal into international retirement. In 2021, with Pakistan having to return to Bangladesh for a limited-overs series just five days after another World Cup concluded, they have shown no signs of the 2015 hangover, taking the most efficient path to a series win.

As a result, the third game in what is already a low-key series becomes a dead rubber, but Pakistan's rise in the format has meant a lot of jostling for places in the starting XI.With Mohammad Hafeez returning to the lineup and a slew of fast bowlers and power hitters waiting in the wings, any opportunity for this side to impress is a good opportunity given that the next T20 World Cup is less than a year away.

The home team is in freefall and may still have some time to run. Series victories over Australia and New Zealand prior to the T20 World Cup proved completely irrelevant in terms of tournament performance.

Late on Saturday, Bangladesh announced that pace bowler Kamrul Islam Rabbi and batter Parvez Hossain Emon had been added to their squad for the third game. Both players have yet to make their first T20I appearance.
