Afridi to join Pakistan squad on October 15

Shaheen Shah Afridi has finished his recovery in London following a knee injury and will join the Pakistan squad in Brisbane on October 15 for the men's T20 World Cup, as scheduled.

According to a PCB statement issued on Tuesday, Afridi will be ready for selection for Pakistan's T20 World Cup warm-up matches against England on October 17 and Afghanistan on October 19.Following that, his match fitness will be evaluated before of their first World Cup play against India on October 23 in Melbourne.

"I am really enthusiastic about the idea of rejoining the national team for the T20 World Cup and contributing to the campaign," Afridi said in a statement.

"It's been difficult for me to be away from the game and the team I love the most, and not be able to participate in some grueling and thrilling contests."

"I've been bowling six to eight overs with full run-up and pace for the previous ten days with no problems."While I've liked bowling and batting in the nets, nothing beats the atmosphere of a match, and I can't wait to be there.

"It was a demanding and difficult rehabilitation program, but I absolutely loved it."

Afridi has been out since injuring his right knee ligament while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle in July.He then traveled with the squad to the Netherlands for a three-match ODI series in August, hoping to recuperate while on tour recuperation.

That did not go as planned, as swelling on his knee worsened in the Netherlands, and the PCB stated that he would be sidelined for four to six weeks.
